Rodrigo Calado is a Professor of Medicine and Hematology at the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Ribeirao Preto Medical School. He received his MD and PhD from the University of Sao Paulo and was trained in Hematology at the University Hospital and at the US National Institutes of Health. Dr. Calado’s research is devoted to hematopoietic stem cell failure, from molecular mechanisms to therapies. Dr. Calado also is interested in immunotherapies for hematologic disorders. His hematology service produced the first CAR-T cell and treated the first patient in Latin America and is developing a clinical trial for leukemia and lymphoma.
