I am a Biomedical Science graduate with master and Ph.D. degrees in Molecular Biology from EPM-Unifesp, Brazil. I was a postdoc at Rosalind Segal’s lab, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. I am a Full Professor of Molecular Biology, coordinating the National Institute of Science and Technology in Modelling Human Complex Diseases with 3D Platforms (INCT Model3D). I am the president of the Brazilian Society of Cellular Biology (SBBC) and a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC). My lab focuses on neurogenesis and neuroinflammation in response to central nervous system injuries, neurodegeneration/regeneration. We are also interested in the fabrication of biomimetic platforms to model neurodevelopment and neurological diseases.
