Our research aims to mechanistically understand cell differentiation and apply that knowledge to generate clinically relevant cell types for future cell replacement therapies or in vitro disease modeling. To achieve this goal, we adopted a rapid and data-rich in vitro differentiation platform that we ultimately aim to validate with in vivo experiments. Within this framework, we aim to address the following questions: 1) How is positional identity established along body axes? 2) How does a group of transcription factors induce a particular neuronal fate? 3)Why are some neurons more sensitive than others to neurodegenerative diseases?
